Our family Gouveia lived in Funchal but was looking for a calm place to spend weekends and holidays in the countryside. We found Calhau Grande: a beautiful and wild place in Arco da Calheta, with big rocks, some ruins and superb views over the ocean. We immediately felt in love by that place and we decided to renovate the old houses, step by step, to create our family shelter. It became later our life project.
In 2004, we started our journey welcoming guests in Madeira. In 2023, we decided to renovate this unique apartment in our house. We have already spent pleasant moments with our family here and we will be happy to share it with you!
